Life is like cooking your favorite recipe!

Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will lead us to our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, we will encounter many challenges. It’s like making your favorite recipe. There are many different ingredients that go into making an amazing dish. If you were to eat the dish with only a few of the ingredients mixed together it wouldn’t taste good, but when all the ingredients are mixed together you have something beautiful. Time stops for no one, and if we allow ourselves to focus on the negative we might miss out on some really amazing things that life has to offer. We can’t go back to the past, we can only take the lessons that we have learned and the experiences that we have gained from it and move on. It is because of the heartaches, as well as the victories, that in the end help make a Masterpiece.

If you are in the season of your life where all hell is breaking loose and you don’t feel like there is a masterpiece in the making, Hold On!! Don’t give up! God is not finished with the dish!!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Are you Hungry for more of God?

There is nothing worse than preparing a meal for someone who doesn’t have an appetite! God responds to appetite. Are you hungry for more of God today??  When you are hungry, you don’t have to find time to eat. Hungry people don’t wait for food to happen upon them. When you are hungry, you adjust your life to make time for a meal. God wants us to go deeper in intimacy with Him. We’ve let ourselves feel satisfied when God wants us to feel hungrier! It’s never to late to begin. Today is a new day! Respond to Him, you won’t be disappointed!!

Matthew 5:6 ~ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Defeat is Not an option!

To be challenged in life is inevitable, but to be defeated is optional!

God will use your circumstances and your pain to push you into your Purpose that He predestined! Don’t give up today!

“Now thanks be unto God, which always caused us to triumph in Christ…” 2 Corinthians 2:14

Author Karina – Cafe Delites
Ingredients
6 chicken thighs , bone in or out, with or without skin*
Salt and pepper , to season
2 teaspoons garlic powder , to season
6 cloves garlic , crushed
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup water (or chicken broth)
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Instructions
Season chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder; set aside.
Heat a pan or skillet over medium high heat; sear chicken thigh fillets or breast fillets on both sides until golden and cooked through.
FOR BONE IN THIGHS:
Reduce heat after searing on both sides, cover skillet with a lid and continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through, while turning every 5 minutes until done. Alternatively, see notes for oven method.
Drain most of the excess oil from the pan, leaving about 2 tablespoons of pan juiced for added flavour.
FOR SAUCE:
When chicken is done and cooked through, arrange chicken skin-side up in the pan (if cooking with skin); add the garlic between the chicken and fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add the honey, water, vinegar and soy sauce. Increase heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the sauce reduces down and thicken slightly (about 3-4 minutes).
Garnish with parsley and serve over vegetables, rice, pasta or with a salad.
Recipe Notes
*For chicken breasts: use 3 breasts, sliced horizontally in half. Sear breast fillets on each side until golden and cooked through (about 6 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of your fillets). Continue directions from the sauce, onwards.
**For oven baked, bone-in thighs: Preheat oven at 400°F or 200°C. Sear chicken in an oven proof skillet or pan, skin side down first for 3 minutes. Flip and sear for a further 3 minutes until browned each side. Then bake in the oven for a further 20-25 minutes, until completely cooked through and no longer pink inside. Continue directions from the sauce, onwards.

Victory is Yours!

I have realized that not everyone will celebrate your victories with you. Not everyone will promote you or help you in the process. That’s ok! Not everyone is meant to be apart of your success. Sometimes your journey may be lonely but Never give up!

Seize the opportunity God has given you! Everything you need for Victory in this season is within your reach!! I don’t fight for Victory, I fight from Victory. You have to view the Victory before it comes. Stop looking at your limitations. See yourself according to what God has spoken over your life! Don’t give up today!!

Do you feel as though life is messy right now?

My husband knows that if he comes home from work and the kitchen is spotless it either means dinner has not been started or we are having take out! Cooking a nice delicious made from scratch meal can’t be done without making a mess. So when he sees a mess he knows I’m up to something good!

Just as the kitchen can get messy, don’t be discouraged when life gets messy. God is up to something! When God is cooking something up look past the mess because you’re getting ready for a really good meal!!

4th of July Thoughts

“Liberty is the breath of life to nations.” ~ George Bernard Shaw

As we celebrate our Freedom the next few days remember that Freedom isn’t Free! Every year, Americans rejoice and celebrate the 4th of July, with great fanfare. Amidst colorful parades, flag hoisting ceremonies, and barbecue parties, Americans remember the suffering their forefathers endured to win them precious freedom. We proudly honor those who have gone before us to pave the way of freedom so our children and grandchildren may live in a country that is Free!
